Breaking Down the Square Golf Course List: The Long, The Short, and The Brutal

square golf course list

If you’ve been spending time in the r/squaregolfUSA community, you know that the courses available in the software aren’t all created equal. Some are perfect for a quick 15-minute session, while others will have you questioning your life choices by the 14th hole.

To make our collaborative Square Golf course list more useful, I’ve crunched the numbers from our community data. If you’re tired of loading up a random track only to realize it’s a 7,500-yard monster when you just wanted a casual round, this breakdown is for you.

The “Long Drive” Champions (Longest Courses)

When you want to see if that off-season speed training is actually paying off, these are the courses to load.

  • The Heavy Hitter: Midtown Golf Club takes the crown for the longest 18-hole track at a massive 7,498 yards. It’s a pure long-hitter’s test, though the greens are manageable if you can actually get to them.
  • The Ultimate Endurance Test: The Great South Course actually edges out the rest at 7,561 yards. Between the length and the “heavy sand and bunkers everywhere,” this is the most grueling walk in the software.

The “Sofa-Golf” Specials (Shortest Courses)

Sometimes you just want to see some red numbers and work on your wedges.

  • The Sprinter: Golf Club Lazy Dogs is the shortest 18-hole course in the library at just 6,241 yards. It’s the ideal warm-up or beginner round with a relaxed, forgiving layout.
  • The Versatile Option: Angel’s Arrow Golf Club is unique as the only 27-hole course. It features three 9-hole loops, making it great for mixing things up without committing to a massive championship distance.

The “Club-Tossers” (Hardest Courses)

Square Golf physics can be punishing, particularly around the greens. Based on the data, here is where things get real:

  • The Strategic Nightmare: Oak Forest Golf Club isn’t the longest, but it carries a 4-star course difficulty. Its narrow, tree-lined fairways demand surgical accuracy off the tee.
  • The Putting Nightmare: Don’t let the yardage fool you on Punk Kid’s Play Ground. While the fairways are a manageable 2 stars, it features a 5-star green difficulty. If your short game isn’t dialed in, expect a long day of three-putts.

Distance Gapping: The Tee Box Breakdown

One of the most important parts of our Square Golf course list is tracking how a course “feels” versus its raw stats.

  • The “Easy Long” Course: Golf Club Sunny Bay stretches to 7,100 yards but is remarkably beginner-friendly. It’s open, breezy, and has flat greens—perfect for those who want the “big course” feel without the big course stress.
  • The Technical Challenge: Golf Club Delfino (Italian for “Dolphin”) is a shorter, coastal-style track at 6,473 yards. It rewards precision over power, likely throwing plenty of water hazards your way if you get greedy.

The Collaborative Course Table

Here is the data we’ve gathered so far on all the courses. This is available in the app if you are logged in. Providing it here to help you plan around before you fire up your device.

How You Can Help

The square golf course list is only as good as the data we put into it. If you’ve played a round and noticed that the yardage on the scorecard doesn’t match the sim, or if you found a “hidden gem” course that everyone is sleeping on, add your info to the Google Drive sheet.
